Abstract

As the agency responsible for immigration activities, the Denpasar Class I Immigration Office has the obligation to supervise, enforce, and control the presence of foreign nationals in the city of Denpasar. The performance of immigration officers is crucial to the success of handling overstay cases. This study aims to examine the factors that influence the performance of immigration officers in handling overstay cases, the obstacles and challenges they face, and the strategic methods used to improve the effectiveness of overstay enforcement. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to understand the performance of Denpasar Class I Immigration Office staff in handling overstay cases involving foreign nationals in Denpasar City. Data collection was conducted through three main techniques, namely observation, documentation, and interviews. The results of the study show that the performance of Denpasar Class I TPI Immigration Office employees in handling overstay cases involving foreign nationals in Denpasar City can be considered good. This can be seen from the well- established procedures for handling overstay cases, starting from field surveillance and reports from the community, arrest, examination, and preparation of examination reports, preparation of deportation documents, and deportation of foreign nationals who have overstayed. The good performance of the staff is also due to the good coordination with various related agencies that are part of the Foreigners Monitoring Team.
